Canandaigua is home base. The city sits at the north end of the lake on flat, clay-heavy ground that drains slowly; the town wraps around it and climbs into the hills on both shores, where lots get steep and shale gets shallow. We work both — replacing 1950s sewer laterals and footing drains on the streets off Main and Gibson, and cutting driveways and foundations into hillside lots off West Lake Road and East Lake Road.

The lake shapes every job here. The Town of Canandaigua has stormwater and erosion-control requirements, protected-slope rules on the steep shore lots, and the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council reviews work near the water. We plan silt fence, wattles, and stabilized entrances before the first bucket, because that's what the town inspector and the neighbors will look at first.

Newer neighborhoods on the north and west sides — off Route 332, County Road 30, and around the Bristol Road area — are where we get the most drainage and regrading calls. Builder backfill has settled, the grade runs toward the house, and April water shows up in the basement. It's a half-day fix with the right slope and longer downspouts.
