Naples sits at the south end of Canandaigua Lake where the valley floor is flat, rich, and wet, and the hills on either side go up fast. Grape country on the slopes, the Naples Creek flats in the valley, and lake cottages at Woodville — three different kinds of ground within three miles, and we work all of them.

On the hillsides — Garlinghouse, Italy Hill, the roads up toward the High Tor state land — it's shale, springs, and slope. Driveways need real drainage engineering to survive a thunderstorm; building pads need cut-and-fill and often a wall; septic systems need raised or pumped designs to meet setbacks on tilted ground. In the valley, high groundwater and the creek's flood history decide where a foundation can go and how deep.
