Gorham runs from the flat farmland along Routes 245 and 364 down to the east shore of Canandaigua Lake, and that range is the whole story of excavation here. Up top it's heavy clay that holds a pond and slows a perc test; down at the lake it's steep, shaly, and regulated.

Farm-country work is the bulk of it: septic replacements on fifty-year-old systems, new systems on the slow soils that need raised beds, farm ponds that the clay holds beautifully, long gravel drives that need base and ditching, and barns coming down. The Gorham and Rushville area has some of the best pond ground in the county, and we've dug a lot of them.

The lake side — Crystal Beach, Deep Run, the roads off East Lake Road — is different work: protected-slope permitting, erosion control the watershed council will inspect, retaining walls and terraces to create usable ground, and the driveway and foundation work for the wave of year-round rebuilds replacing old cottages. Access is tight on those lots and we bring the compact equipment that fits.
