Demolition and removal in Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes

Sometimes the job starts with taking something down. We handle residential and small-commercial demolition: outbuildings, detached garages, old barns, mobile homes, in-ground pool removal, concrete and asphalt tear-out, and the old foundations and slabs that sit where a new house or garage is going.

We tear down with the excavator, sort what can be recycled from what can't, load it out, and leave the site graded — or, if you're building, ready for the next crew. Where a structure has a basement or a pool, we backfill and compact it so it doesn't become a sinkhole in the lawn.

Demolition in most Ontario County towns needs a permit, and older structures may need an asbestos survey before they come down. We'll tell you what applies and coordinate the survey if one's needed.

Taking down old structures in lake country

Ontario County has a lot of nineteenth-century barns, and most of the ones we're called about are past the point of saving. If yours still has good timbers, tell us — there's a market for reclaimed barn beams and we can take it down carefully instead of with a bucket.

Old lake cottages are the other common demo. Many were built in the 1920s through 50s on shallow footings and get replaced with year-round homes. Working on a lakeshore lot means debris handling and erosion control get planned in advance, and the watershed council may have a say.

Pool removal has become a regular call from Victor, Pittsford, and Canandaigua as older in-ground pools reach the end of their lives. A partial removal — breaking up the shell, punching drainage holes, and backfilling — is the economical option and is fine for a lawn. A full removal is needed if you plan to build on the spot.
